Australia Private Schools introduces St Mary's Primary School Hastings in Hastings, for all your education and learning for your childs future,

In 2012 St Mary’s consists of 132 students, in five classrooms. All members of our staff quickly get to know all children and families. Our shared vision for the students of St Mary’s is for each person to be highly literate, numerate, open to and excited by the prospect of learning, healthy, well-rounded individuals who are good citizens.

With a primary focus on literacy and numeracy, two teachers work in all classrooms to help students achieve their potential in these most important areas. Specialist programs are Arts, Physical Education, LOTE (Italian) and Music, including choir, piano and guitar lessons. All students participate in social and emotional development programs.

St Mary’s runs a number of initiatives including two free play groups- one of which is a Mainly Music playgroup; a youth group, which operates two evenings per week and occasionally on weekends; and a Before and After School Hours Care program which operates five days per week.

Lunchtime clubs include runners’ club, library, choir, sports and gardening.

Parents and community members work within our school classrooms and enjoy interacting with students and staff. Our volunteers gain particular satisfaction and a sense of fulfilment from assisting a child to master something new.  Some of our programs are supported and partially financed by organisations based in Hastings, possible future employers of our children.  When a village takes on the responsibility of raising a child, the whole village gains.

Families are encouraged to participate in School Council and its committees in order to develop and extend the programs the school can offer and its facilities.  All parents are welcome to attend School Council meetings.

Education in the twenty first century is global in nature and our programs and infrastructure are cognisant of this - as a phrase in our school song says, “I know the world’s much bigger than me.”
