Gilston State School is located in the Gold Coast hinterland. In response to advocacy from the local rural community, it opened in 1881. Today with approximately 600 students enrolled, care is taken to maintain the 'rural feel' that is rated by many as a prime reason for enrolment. Family values are the cornerstone of all aspects of the school and community participation is very high. We have a proud tradition of developing citizenship within our students that is recognised by the wider community.

We are proud of the reputation we have established and unashamedly infuse traditional family values into our everyday operations.
